@allergy mom - what I'd love to believe is that only families who really need something like this might use it. However, what I know is that in reality, many people buy stuff like this, not because it's necessary, but because it's cool or more handy than getting a reusable spoon from the drawer.

I get that there is disposable necessary stuff on the planet - after going to college for nursing, I saw WAY more disposables than I ever care to again, but of course, much of it was necessary. Another example are car seats - mostly disposable and plastic, not at all eco, but yeah, necessary.

My issue with toss away stuff is that MOST of the people I see using these items (such as the medicine), aren't using it because it's necessary, but because they want to for some other reason.

Just wanted to let you know the purpose of #2. For people with severe food allergies, Benadryl is the first step, and these prefilled spoons are the ONLY way to carry in your purse a quickly accessible form of Benadryl liquid (liquid works immediately). We keep the spoons in my son's Epipen pouch at home, in my purse and at school. They are not a commonly purchased product, from what I can tell as they are hard to find, but we allergy-moms desperately count on them. Sorry about the landfill. We recycle as much as possible at home and use reusable containers, but some things are just necessary.

Thanks! I'm glad you find this stuff helpful. It's hard when I think I'm just spouting off all on my own - not that it would stop me ;)

Jennifer - You know I am a HUGE fan of your blog. I'm always trying to go a little greener and sometimes I read your posts and feel like, "DUH!" I should do that. Thanks for always offering up some great ideas.
