Eco-Eggs Easter Egg Coloring Kit

by Jennifer on February 27, 2010

It’s a little early for Easter, but being that this new eco-kids product just launched this week, we should take a look. Parent Dish calls the brand new Eco-Eggs Easter Egg Coloring Kit one of the best green toys at Toy Fair 2010 and while I haven’t seen it yet personally it does sound super spiffy.

Eco-Eggs Easter Egg Coloring Kit

The eco-egg coloring kit comes with dissolvable vegetable capsules in five vibrant colors made with natural extracts from purple sweet potato, paprika, beta carotene, red cabbage and blueberries. There’s enough dye in each kit to color eggs twice. The kit also comes with 2 soy crayons for decorating.

I’m interested in actually seeing if this kit works well though. Keep on reading this post!

Most little ones I’ve met LOVE to dress up and pretend they’re someone else. I spent entire days as a kid doing this (and making my sister, poor girl, join in). If you’re still trying to think of a last minute gift for a special little one in your world then a DIY thrift store dress-up costume kit is an awesome idea.

This is also a green gift. You don’t have to buy any new products to pull it off plus you’re saving goods from the landfill and it’s thrifty to boot. For about $30 or less you can create a totally fab, one-of-a-kind holiday gift for a child who loves pretend play. Below is how to pull off this reuse gift.

Over the weekend I had some unsavory characters smash in both my front car windows, steal my cell phone, and some other stuff, so I had to take the weekend off entirely from work to fix these issues. Yay Portland right? I hate how crowded and busy and apparently crime ridden this city has become. [...]

For years now I’ve been participating in Buy Nothing Day. Buy Nothing Day is the alternative to Black Friday, launched by the good folks at Adbusters.

The basics:

Find Toxic-free Toys for the Holidays

November 13, 2009

While you may have eco-friendly toys on the brain for this holiday season, your friends and family may not. Your kids may get scads of plastic, obnoxious packaging, and yes, even possibly toxic toys for the holidays. Additionally, it’s hard to know which toys are eco-friendly and non-toxic. There’s a lot of greenwashing out there. [...]

Throw a Green Thanksgiving Event

November 11, 2009

Thanksgiving is a busy time of year. It’s a little nuts but you can still keep it green. Following are some ways you can celebrate without compromising your eco-ethics or too much more of your time.

Get sane: Traveling during the holidays is a nightmare. It’s more expensive, it’s stressful, and it keeps your emissions nice [...]
