Nature-minded Craft Ideas that Celebrate Autumn

by Jennifer on September 22, 2012

Today is the first day of autumn, which is totally reason enough to celebrate, but in case you need more reasons here are some festive fall crafts you and the kids can do together.

So first I saw these ADORABLE Toadstool Acorn People (above) which are so cute that they could have been enough to tide me over. But crafter Twig and Toadstool just couldn’t leave well enough alone.

No, she’s gotta post the sweetest ever tiny felt pumpkin and itty bitty lil’ tea set… both of which, of course your toadstool people will need – I mean are we civilized or are we civilized? Frankly, I’m drowning to death in the cuteness. If I fail to ever post again, you’ll know what killed me. Also see these close second runner up acorn folks.

Although the toadstool goodies were hands down my favorite craft projects of the year, there’s lots of other autumn goodness out there too, such as…

Fall Candle Holder from Recycled Jars

Wise Owl Pumpkin - so cute and the perfect time of year for this lil’ fella to perch on your table.
Paper snowflakes – autumn style.

An easy fall garland – so easy kids can do it, or a more sophisticated fall banner or this one!

A hoot-worthy paper bag owl with leaves for feathers.

Salt dough leaf prints. You could also use organic play dough to make these or some nifty fall scented cinnamon play dough.

I LOVE the acorn people at the top of this post, but one of my other favorite crafts of the season so far is this amazing pumpkin specimen art by My Blessed Life shown above. Seriously, it’s so pretty. You could do this with trees or little apples and it’d be SO cute in a playroom.

Pretty fall felt coasters.

Really cute and classic little paper pumpkins.

Cornhusk Leaves you can use for all sorts of crafts from bowls to wreaths.

That tea set is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen!

I know. They’re almost criminally cute – killing folks with cuteness! I want to make some, but my guess is the 11 year old boy won’t be on board. I want to build a green dollhouse (just for fun) so I’m bookmarking the project.
